The United States remains a global leader in adoption, with FCHEA member Plug Power reporting deployments of over 60,000 fuel cell systems and 180 fueling stations worldwide .

Major customers including Walmart, Amazon, and BMW continue to expand their hydrogen fleets, citing benefits such as reduced floor space requirements compared to battery charging rooms and support for corporate emissions reduction goals .

Internationally, adoption is accelerating as well: BMW Group plans to gradually transition to hydrogen propulsion for forklifts at its Regensburg, Germany plant by 2030, while European logistics provider STEF Group recently launched green hydrogen projects with Toyota Material Handling Europe and Plug Power at facilities in France and Spain .
